Yet there has to be a reason for our anxiety, correct? An evolutionary purpose that it served at some point in human history. Let us dig into the potential upside of anxiety. What is Anxiety?

Anxiety is a natural human emotion that can be triggered in response to situations that are either dangerous or frightening. Fear is an expression that occurs when we are afraid or feel something might happen to us. On the other hand, anxiety is an expression that occurs when we anticipate or expect an unpleasant event.

Fear and anxiety are expressions that tell us that there is a specific type of danger we should be aware of. These two emotions help us respond to this danger by developing various bodily sensations designed to help us feel safe and secure.

The ability to develop and respond quickly to anxiety has been known to be very effective, as it can be triggered in response to situations that are either frightening or dangerous. In many ways, this response is automatic. We don’t have to think about it; it can be activated immediately if we detect or perceive a threat.

How Can It Be Useful?

One of the main advantages of anxiety and fear is that they can help us identify something significant to us. For instance, if we are worried about our children, it could be because we are very concerned about them. Having a strong relationship with them could also help decrease our anxiety.

Although we may not have control over what goes on inside us, we can still control our actions. For instance, if we feel that we cannot control what goes on in our lives, we can still choose to engage in behaviors that align with our goals.

Having a bit of anxiety can also help us avoid taking potentially dangerous risks. However, it is not a good thing to assume that the world is a safe place. It is not always possible to avoid hazardous situations.

Even though some people may feel stressed, having a little anxiety can still motivate them to get things done. For instance, they may show up at work on time or go to the doctor when they are worried about their health. Some people may experience excessive stress, but it is not a big deal.
